RESULTS: Junior British Lead Climbing Championships

This year, for the first time, the Junior British Lead Climbing Championships celebrated being held as a standalone event and headed to Leeds.

Organised by the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) and GB Climbing, the competition in previous years had been held alongside its senior counterpart. But this year the juniors had their own place in the sporting spotlight, with their inaugural standalone championships staged over the weekend of October 14 and 15 at the Big Depot Leeds climbing centre.

Zoe Spriggins, Competition Programmes Manager at GB Climbing, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Leeds City Council and the wider city to shine a spotlight on junior competition climbing. As a nation we’ve had a really successful year on the international competition scene and through our national calendar of events we are delighted to be able to support the next generation of talent and provide these opportunities for junior athletes to test themselves.

“Having spectators at these events adds an extra level of energy and support for the junior athletes, creating an unforgettable experience in what is for many their debut championships.”
