ICE CLIMBING: Willis Morris takes silver in Slovakia
We had success at the UIAA continental open in Zilina, Slovakia, where a total of 77 athletes (55 male, 22 female) contested. GB had a large contingent, with 7 male and 4 female athletes competing.
The GB Ice Climbing team topped the team rankings, for the first time ever. A huge congratulations to everyone involved in such an epic experience.

Additional accolades go to the following climbers.
⏭️ Caitlin Connor - Who made it into the final round, ranking three points higher than her last outing back in February in Finland.
🥈 Willis Morris - Finished joint top in the finals with less than 30 seconds between him and the Spanish winner, Jorge Veiga Rodriguez.
Following surgery in December 2022, Willis has rehabbed and recovered well, putting in an excellent performance in the finals, to get a well deserved place on the podium.
Morris was the only other athlete to top the route, and proudly brings home a silver medal, a great result for our athlete, who has overcome recent injuries.

Lorraine Brown, Head of Performance at GB Climbing, said:
“A wonderful start to the Ice Climbing season for athletes from the UK. It was inspirational to see Caitlin Connor progress to the women’s final and Willis Morris achieving podium success in the men’s field.”
Round 2 of the Continental Open season takes place in Brno, Czech Republic on 2 December
