GB National Development Squad 2022 - Selection Update & FAQ

It was fantastic to see athletes back on the ropes and mats after an extended break from competition and congratulations to all those who competed and took part in the events and thanks to all the amazing volunteers without which the competition events would not be possible.

As the BMC/GB Climbing National Competitions have now concluded for 2021 and the GB National Development Squad selection process is underway. 

The selection process detailed the GB National Development Squad selelction policy 2022 is however taking more time than anticipated. Therefore, the decision has been taken to extend the timelines, which are detailed in an addednum to Section 11 of the policy here.

11.1. The selection process will take place after the final National competition in 2021 has taken place.

11.2. GB Climbing will communicate the selection outcomes to athletes and/or parents by Wednesday 22 December 2021 by email.

11.3. Athletes will be required to complete a selection acceptance form (via webform) to accept their place by the 31 December 2021.

11.4. GB Climbing will communicate the selection outcomes to the public by 5pm Friday 7 January 2022 by posting on the GB Climbing website https://gbclimbing.uk/development-squad and via a web article on the BMC website https://www.thebmc.co.uk/articles/Indoor%20Climbing/Competitions

***UPDATE - Frequently Asked Question ****

We have recieved enquiries regarding the appeals process and how that will take place as part of the selection process.

When GB Climbing communicates the list of athletes who have accepted their place to the public on 5pm Friday 7 January 2022 (as detailed above in 11.4) the appeals process will commence.

The appeals policy, timelines of the process and how to make an appeal will be published with the selection outcomes on the 7 January 2022.
